Becoming & Unbecoming
This project is both a personal archive and a love letter to my time in New York City, and everything it has given me. The work documents the fragments that map a version of myself that could only exist within that time and place. To view the project, participants enter a physical tent (an ode to the childhood fort) where they encounter books and sensory items that invite them into my world through the memories I have collected over time: concert tickets, thank-you cards, nostalgic scents, the fragments of everyday life.
Drawn from my relationship with nature as a place of regulation and return, I use the flower as a visual thread to tie my world together, across the tent, the objects, and books inside. It is an intimate body of work that offers a glimpse into the inner world I retreat to when the real one becomes difficult to face.
The Drift Realm
I drift easily: mid-conversation, on long drives, sitting through a lecture I've stopped absorbing. One moment I'm here, and the next I've slipped somewhere else entirely. Over time, that somewhere else kept expanding: its own geography, its own logic, growing more solid every time I returned to it. The Drift Realm is my attempt to show the viewer what that world looks like.
A Love Letter to New York City
A short excerpt from a longer book
This book preserves the fragments of a city I couldn't carry with me, immortalizing the moments my eyes could capture but never hold onto.
The Reimagined Memory Book
Since I was eight years old, I've kept a memory book, a growing archive of the small things that mark a life: candy wrappers saved from a fifth-grade school trip, the ticket from my first Camp Rock concert in 2008, and sentimental keepsakes gathered in the years since. This hand-bound journal is a reimagined, modernized version of that original book I kept as a child, teenager, and young adult: the same instinct to hold onto memory, remade to fit who I am now.
